Frequently Asked Questions

How much does duct cleaning cost?

The price of cleaning the ductwork system or systems serving your home will vary.  The cleaning costs can be affected by many factors; i.e., the size of house, number of systems, access to furnace, crawl space areas, etc.  The average house will usually cost somewhere between $295 to $450.

What information is needed to obtain a phone estimate?

For most homes the cost of cleaning the ductwork will be based on the combined total of supply and return air register openings througouth the home.  Households having more than one furnace, furnances in attic areas, or homes with downflo furnaces will normally require over-viewing by a Dyna-Vac representative.

What is our access?

Our truck is equipped with 95 ft. of smoothbore 10-inch pipe.  The pipe must go from wherever the truck is parked to where the furnace is.  This pipe is dual purpose:  (1) allows us to create a vacuum on the system; (2) coveys loosened debris from your system out to our truck.

Parking on a hard surface such a driveway is desirable.  To gain access may occasionally require driving on the yard.  Driving on the yard will require dry conditions and a release from the property owner.

If more than 95 ft. of pipe is needed for access, there will be an additional charge.

What preparations need to be done prior to cleaning?

Our technicians need to have access to all register openings (both supply and return air) and working room around the furnace.  If a basement window is our access for bringing in the pipe, it is essential that the area around the window be made accessible.  Anything that can be done to create easier access to these areas prior to your appointment will be most appreciated by the technicians.  If using a disposable filter, we ask that the customer have a new one available for installation upon completion of cleaning.

How long does the cleaning process take?

The average job will require 2 - 4 hours for two technicians to complete.

I have a newly constructed home - does my system need cleaning?

Unfortunately, there can be considerable accumulated debris in ductwork after construction is completed.  Dyna-Vac works with many homebuilders to clean systems after construction.  It is best to clean the system prior to carpets being laid and after dusty work is completed.  It is important to schedule in advance so there is room on our schedule to accomodate your cleaning.

How often do you recommend cleaning?

We recommend having all components making up your indoor air system be cleaned about every 4 years.  Remodeling projects, high activity levels, individuals with allergies or asthma, or agricultural environments may make cleaning necessary earlier than the recommended 4 years.

How can I keep my system clean?

Maintaining the cleanliness in your home will certainly help to keep the system clean.  However, the best way to protect your investment in cleaning the system is by using a good filter.  Dyna-Vac sells no products, but will make recommendations as to the kind of product we think will best suit your needs.  Over the years, we have served innumerable customers several times.  Repeat business allows our technicians to view for themselves the effectiveness of various types of filters.  Our recommendations are based on their experiences, not because we are selling a product.

What Sets Dyna-Vac apart from other services?

Firstly, Dyna-Vac is the oldest established ductwork cleaner in the area.  Secondly, cleaning ductwork is what we do year around.  We are not carpet cleaners, upholstery cleaners, nor do we perform janitorial services.  WE CLEAN HEATING SYSTEMS!  When cleaning the ductowrk in your home, Dyna-Vac cleans all the components making up the indoor air.  This normally includes thoroughly cleaning and inspecting the furnace (not just blowing out the dust), if your home has central air conditioning, we clean the a/c evaporator coil, and we clean ALL supply and return air ductwork.  In addition to cleaning air duct systems, Dyna-Vac also cleans dryer vents.
